Battle of South Florida goes to the Warriors as they qualify for the quarterfinals.

#8 HA Miami 60 #1 Maimonides 58

The Warriors trailed by 11 at the half but fought back to take a 7-point lead midway through the fourth quarter. But the M-Cats hung close, taking a 58-57 lead with :20 left on a Jesse Spear layup. A questionable ful call on a three-pointer w :06 left led to three free throws and HA advanced.

#2 Shalhevet 46 #7 SAR 41

The Firehawks led by only one heading to the fourth quarter after the Sting scored the final 13 points of the third. But the hosts held on to advance to the semis. Jacob Benezra led Shalhevet with 15 points and Ze’ev Remer added 10. For SAR, Joseph Gross scored 14 points.

Ze’ev Remer and Jacob Benezra scored 15 points each to lead the #2 Firehawks (4-0). Jordan Appel and Matthew Jedwab led the Hawks (5-3) with 10 points each.

The #3 Cougars won their second close game of the weekend against the Warriors.

Championship

Frisch 56 Shalhevet 51

The Cougars rallied from 16 points down early in the third quarter and then held on in the final minute to beat the defending champs. Tournament MVP Max Zakheim scored 20 points, Shmuli Coates added 17 and Akiva Feit had 11, and the three combined to shoot 16-of-19 from the free throw line. Jacob Benezra led Shalhevet with 18 points and Ze’ev Remer added 15.

Albert Nsiri scored 14 points and Edmond Antebi added 13 as the #1 Warriors (3-1; 10-1) rebounded from their first loss of the season. Noah Goldstein led the Hurricanes (0-3; 0-4) with 25 points.

The #10 Storm (4-0; 7-1) won their fourth straight game. The Lions dropped to 0-2.

JEC 41 Kushner 38

Ethan Thurm and Hillel Glick each scored 13 points for the #25 Thunder (1-0; 3-1). Josh Shapiro led the Cobras (0-4) with 13 points.
