Gaby Spodek’s 19 points led four players in double figures as the #2 Wildcats (24-4) became the first team to repeat as MYHSAL champs since HAFTR in 2002. Elisha Tsaidi added 13 points and Yitz Bennett and Shoham Gabay had 12 each. Manu Weibke scored 17 points for the #6 Sting (23-8) and Ari Halpert added 14.
DRS opened the game on an 8-0 run. SAR fought back to take their only lead at 23-22 late in the 2nd quarter. But the Wildcats scored the last four points of the half and the first four points of the 3rd quarter and the Sting could never get closer than five points the rest of the way. It was the fourth league title for DRS, joining Magen David and Ramaz as the only teams to win that many since 2000, and they’ll take a 5-game winning streak into Sarachek next week.
