The Yeshiva League champion and co-Jewish Hoops America #1 DRS Wildcats are the top seed in the 33rd annual Red Sarachek Tournament at Yeshiva University.
The Shalhevet Firehawks, fresh off their deep run in the California playoffs, are the #2 seed. The top 5 is rounded out by the Frisch Cougars, first-time participant Jewish Culture Lions (the 61st school to play at Sarachek) and Ramaz Rams. The seeding was completed in February before the Yeshiva League semifinals.
The Yeshiva League finalist SAR Sting is seeded #6, followed by the Flatbush Falcons, Valley Torah Wolfpack, Berman H.A. Cougars and Ida Crown Aces. Rounding out the Top 16 are Katz YHS Storm, 9-time champ YULA Panthers, defending champ TABC Storm, Fuchs Mizrachi Mayhem, MTA Lions and H.A. Montreal Heat.
A play-in game Wednesday night between the JEC Thunder and HANC Hurricanes will determine the 17th seed. The final three seeds are the Beren Stars, Hillel Pittsburgh Heat and Southern California Yeshiva Hawks.
Teams 1 through 16 will compete Thursday, with the winners advancing to Friday’s Tier 1 quarterfinals. The four highest ranked teams among the losers of Thursday games will get byes into Saturday night’s Tier 2 quarterfinals. The other four losing teams will play Friday against seeds 17-20 to determine the remaining Tier 2 quarterfinalists and the four Tier 3 teams.
