The Tanenbaum CHAT girls team finished undefeated and the Leo Baeck boys team from Haifa avenged its only loss in the final to win the championships Wednesday at the 2023 Israel Becker Tournament in Toronto.
The host Tigers turned back the Jewish Day School Lions in the girls final 61-25 behind 17 points from Samara Glazer and 12 from Jaime Morris. Before that the Tigers won all four of their preliminary games and beat Beth Tfiloh in the semifinals.
The Tigers 6-0 record coupled with a perfect run through the Weiner Tournament in Baltimore last month gave them 13 straight wins since their fall season, in which they were undefeated until losing in their conference final.
In the boys final, Leo Baeck beat Jewish Day School 66-60. Leo Baeck had gone 4-1 in prelims, losing only to JDS, and then beat Beth Tfiloh in the semifinals.
