Big Day for Hebrew Academy as Barrack and North Shore win at Ramaz tourney

The Barrack H.A. Cougars and the North Shore H.A. Lions won the girls and boys titles Sunday in the Sam Gyenes Memorial Tournament at Ramaz.

The Cougars came up I-95 from Philadelphia and beat Flatbush in the final 58-37 after beating the SAR JV in the opening round.

In the boys’ tourney, the Lions, ranked #7 in the JHA National Top 25, beat HAFTR in the opening game and then defeated host Ramaz 58-48 in the final.

GIRLS

Flatbush 58 Ramaz 49

Merle Kassab led the Falcons (9-3) with 29 points and Tunie Hanan added 16 in her first game of the season. The loss snapped a 6-game win streak for the Rams (8-7), who were led by Lindsey Feit’s 15 points and 13 from Leila Sakhai. .

Barrack H.A. 68 SAR JV 40

Mikayla Trajtenberg scored 24 points and Eden Singer added 18 to lead the Cougars.

Barrack H.A. 58 Flatbush 37

The Falcons (9-4) scored the game’s first four points but the Cougars (6-6) scored the next 19 and were never threatened from there en route to the title. Eden Singer and Noa Singer each scored 14 points, Sami Neff added 13 and Mikayla Trajtenberg had 10. For Flatbush, Camille Mosseri had 11 points and Merle Kassab scored 10.

BOYS

Ramaz 61 Barrack H.A. 59

Milan Kushner scored 24 points and Eden Bracha added 22 as the host Rams secured a spot in the final. Benjamin Gelwarg had 29 points for the Cougars and Ben Makias scored 10.

North Shore H.A. 49 HAFTR 29

3rd Place

HAFTR 64 Barrack H.A. 43

Peter Drukker scored 24 points and Sam Siri added 22 for the #23 Hawks (14-12). Harrison Andelman led the Cougars (1-11) with 11 points and Benjamin Gelwarg added 10.

Final

North Shore H.A. 58 Ramaz 48

David Orbach led the Lions with 20 points, Jordan Zarka added 15 and Jonah Carmili had 10 as the #7 Lions (21-3) took the title. Milan Kushner had 22 points for the Rams (11-17).
