The unanimous pick as the #1 team in Jewish Hoops America for the 2021-22 season is the Valley Torah Wolfpack.
The ‘Pack capped off a 36-4 season with the school’s first ever Sarachek title on Monday., beating DRS in a thriller that went down to the final minutes. The Wildcats (16-4), who spent seven weeks atop the rankings earlier in the season, finished at #2.
It is the first time Valley Torah has ended the season ranked #1 in the 14 years of the JHA Top 25. There was no #1 team in 2020 and 2021 during Covid.
Valley Torah spent most of the season in the top 10 but a mostly soft schedule left voters questioning how good they really were. That changed when the Wolfpack reached a CIF regional final for the first time ever, beating three higher ranked teams in succession before falling one game shy of a berth in the state championship game..
MYHSAL champ Ramaz dropped from 2nd to a tie for 5th after settling for a Tier 2 title when they fell to Magen David in the opening round of Sarachek.
