Shalhevet tops Magen David to repeat as Sarachek champs

March 19, 2019

Asher Dauer scored 17 points and Jacob Benezra had two clutch free throws and a three-pointer down the stretch as the Shalhevet Firehawks (31-7) rallied to beat the Magen David Warriors in the championship game of the 28th annual Sarachek Tournament at Yeshiva University.

It was the second straight Sarachek title for the Firehawks, who have been to the final four straight years, and the first time the tournament had a repeat winner since 2001.

Michael Natkin paced the Warriors with 19 points. Magen David (27-5) also fell in the Yeshiva League championship game last week, falling to Heschel 53-52 on a last-second layup and foul shot.

MTA won the Tier 2 title, beating Fasman Yeshiva. Ida Crown defeated Beren Houston for 1st Place in Tier 3. Cooper Memphis won Tier 4 with a win over Hebrew Academy of Montreal.
