Jenny Kagan tied a JHA-season high with 38 points and Tali Cohen and Ma’ayan Zakheim added 13 each as the Cougars (16-5) beat the rival Lions (12-5) for their first Potomac Valley Athletic Conference championship since 1984. It was the first time the two schools ever met in the title game. Shani Schwartz led JDS with 21 points and Avital Friedman had 20.

The #13 Lions (13-7) came up short in the Potomac Valley Athletic Conference championship game as the Grasshoppers completed an undefeated league season.

North Shore Country Day 42 Rochelle Zell 34

The #14 Tigers (18-4) had an 8-point lead at the end of the 3rd quarter but managed only two points in the 4th as they fell in the IHSA 1A Deerfield Regional final. Nathan Kushnir scored 12 points for Rochelle Zell.

Harvest Christian 64 Ida Crown 46

The #16 Aces (12-7) fell in the IHSA 1a Elgin Regional final.

Denver Jewish Day 57 Belleview Christian 43

The #25 Tigers (17-2) won in the championship game of the District 8-1A playoffs, the first district title in school history. It was the team’s 11th straight win.

Moses Lake Christian 61 Northwest Yeshiva HS 60

After Dovi Goldberg put them up with 2-of-3 free throws with :01 left, the 3rd seeded Lions (16-6) fell in heartbreaking fashion when Jeff Boorman made up for his foul on Goldberg with a shot from just inside the half court circle at the buzzer.

YDE 53 Waterbury Yeshiva 50

In the opening round of the playoffs, Eddie Beda scored 15 points and Isaac Tawil and David Sayegh added 12 each to lead the #20 Thunder (9-8). Zack Weiner scored 19 points for the #25 Wolfpack (10-6) and Avi Weiner added 12. YDE will play #2 SAR in the quarterfinals.

In the PVAC semifinals, the #17 Cougars (12-10) slowed the game down against the top-seeded Grasshoppers, trailing 2-0 after one quarter and 20-16 in the 4th but getting no closer. Asher falk led the Cougars with 7 points.

In the semifinals of the District 8-1A playoffs, the #25 Tigers (16-2) almost squandered a late lead with a technical foul but held on to win their 10th straight game and qualify for the regionals.

The Lions (12-4) won their fourth straight game to reach the championship game of the Potomac Valley Athletic Conference tournament.

Jenny Kagan had 18 points and 13 rebounds and Ma’ayan Zakheim and Tali Cohen added 11 points each as the Cougars (15-5) won in the PVAC semifinals, setting up the first JDS-HA title game in the 40 years the two teams have been competing.
