Ava Cohen scored 11 points, Shayna Schiller had 6 and Bailey Magence added 4 as the #1 Sting (20-0) became first girls JHA team to hit 20 wins this season.

Maimonides 45 Hyman Brand H.A. 34

Sara Canner led the M-Cats (8-6) with 14 points, Noa Aghion added 11 and Nava Chein scored 10. Gabby Sosland had 14 points for the Rams (8-4) and Sabra Bergh added 12.

Maimonides Tournament Tips Off Thursday

January 15, 2026

Brookline is welcoming teams from the Bronx, Kansas, Stamford and Atlanta starting Thursday for the annual Maimonides School Invitational Basketball Tournament, in memory of Gary Singer z’l.

Joining the host M-Cats are boys and girls teams from SAR and Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy, the boys team from Bi-Cultural Hebrew Academy and the girls’ team from Atlanta Jewish Academy.

The tournament features round-robin play Thursday, Friday and Saturday night with the consolation games and championships on Sunday morning.

Bruce Pearl, the National Hall of Fame basketball coach of Auburn and a native of nearby Sharon, MA, will be a guest speaker at a “Dessert & Discussion” event Thursday night at Maimonides.

Natan Shafran scored 17 points and Avi Askenazi added 15 for the Wolves (4-4).

Northwest Yeshiva HS 65 Auburn Adventist 61

The #22 Lions (9-4) rallied to take a 6-point lead early in the 4th quarter, gave up the lead but got it back and won it with four free throws by Leon Varon and Ari Kaufthal in the final :30. Sam Weichbrodt led the Lions with 17 points, Sam Chernicoff added 15, Kaufthal and Varon had 14 and 12, respectively, and Adin Goldsmith scored 10.

San Diego Jewish Academy  48 Coastal 25

The Lions (10-3) won their sixth straight game.

Eshaan Katar scored 19 points for the Rams (1-7) and Matt Ma added 15.

Emanuel Kushner scored 15 points, Stanley Cayre added 13 and Noah Hiltzik had 11 as the #10 Rams (11-2; 17-7) extended their win streak to five games. Omri Oron and Oz Zuker each scored 14 points for the Heat (3-10; 5-12).
