Nitzahn Epstein had 12 points and 15 rebounds as the Cougars (10-4) extended their win streak to 10 games and swept the season series. The Lions are now 7-5.

Sami Neff led the #8 Cougars (5-6) with 16 points. Meytal Benjamini had 18 points for the Kings (5-9).

NORTHEAST

Maimonides 54 Gann 45

Leah Kaplan scored 21 points and Eden Taieb added 12 for the M-Cats (6-0). The Red Heifers are 2-4.

South Florida Boys Teams Compete in Airley Invitational

Eight South Florida Jewish boys varsities will compete this weekend in Boca Raton at the inaugural Binyamin Airley A’H Invitational, a tournament in memory of an Israeli paratrooper killed in the war in Gaza.

The tournament is raising funds for Beit Binyamin, a retreat in Tzvat in Airley’s memory that offers respite to combat soldiers, bereaved and displaced families and others experiencing the traumatic effects of war.

Airley, 21, was killed November 18, 2023, along with a commander and another soldier when he went to help them confront two terrorists in a house in northern Gaza.

Participating teams in the tournament include Katz YHS (ranked #8 in JHA Top 25), Posnack Jewish Day (#10), Jewish Culture (#12), Donna Klein Jewish Academy, H.A. Miami, Hillel, Ohr HaTorah and Tiferes Torah.

Games Saturday night and Sunday will be played at Katz Yeshiva High School and Donna Klein Jewish Academy.

9:30 - Posnack Jewish Day vs Tiferes Torah (at Katz)

White Bracket

8:00 - Ohr HaTorah vs Katz YHS (at Katz)
9:40 - Donna Klein Jewish Academy vs H.A. Miami (at Donna Klein)

Winners in the opening games will play each other in the semifinals Sunday morning with the bracket winners playing later in the championship. Losers in the opening games will play in consolation semifinals.

The #7 Cougars (19-5) led by six in the final two minutes but fell on a 3-pointer at the buzzer. A;ex August scored 24 points.

Zeke Levitt led the Kings (6-6) with 25 points and Grant Provda added 24, including seven 3-pointers.

Noam Waknin’s 13 points led five players in double figures for the Roadrunners (2-8). Isaac Sharret added 12 points and Brandon Sternthal and Ari Jacobs had 10 each.

The Tigers got payback for their loss last year in the sectional semifinals as they snapped Leffell’s 4-game win streak. Nadav Hadari led the #17 Lions (5-2) with 12 points and Russell Wechsler and Jake Horowitz had 11 each.

Shilo Kahan led the #12 Lions (21-9) with 22 points and Jimmie Lasry added 11. The #10 Rams are 7-6.

Jake Coblentz-Brown scored 29 points and grabbed 24 rebounds and three others scored in double figures as the #25 Lions (8-1) rolled in their first game ranked in the JHA Top 25. Graydon Carpet and Ari Vardon each added 17 points, with Carpet dishing out 10 assists, and Eli Feinberg had 10 points.
