Sam Jemal led the Falcons (2-2) with 15 points and Alan Anzaroot had 14. The Lions were led by Orel Nahmani’s 16 points and 10 from Jimme Lasry.

Shalhevet 56 Akiba Yavneh Dallas 35

Aiden Bitran scored 18 points, Sam Jacobson added 12 and the host Firehawks used a 20-2 third quarter to put the game away. Jake Yalovsky’s 9 points paced the Bulldogs.

YULA 56 Frisch 53

The Panthers saw a 14-point 3rd quarter lead dwindle to 2 in the final three minutes but held on for the win. Jaden Azeroul paced YULA with 14 points and Alex Gabbay had 11. Sophomore Isaac Stepner led the Cougars with 18 points in his first varsity game and Max Schachter added 12.

Berman H.A. 56 Ramaz 39

Alex August scored 26 points to lead the Cougars in their season opener. Bobby Sigoura paced the Rams (4-2) with 16 points.

Jordan Cohen-Mintz led the Heat with 21 points in the league opener for both teams.

Joe Aaron scored 18 points - including a breakaway dunk late in the 4th - and Yitz Bennett added 14 points as the Wildcats (1-0; 5-1) won their league opener and stretched their win streak to four games. Josh Chabbott led the Warriors (0-1; 3-2) with 15 points and Phil Sherr had 12.

Dillan Haghigat scored 23 points and had seven steals, Becca Golyan added 21 points and Alexa Hajibay had 19 points and 10 rebounds as the Lions rolled in the season opener for both teams.

SKA 43 Flatbush 27

Lea Steinmetz scored 18 points and Daphna Steinmetz added 14 to lead the Sonics.

Ramaz 50 HAFTR 47

Leila Sakhai scored 18 points and Lindsey Feit added 10 as the Rams (2-0) rallied from 8 points down in the 3rd quarter to sweep the home-and-home series. Ayelet Preston led the Hawks (0-2) with 17 points, including five 3-pointers, Sophia Fruchter added 11 points and Megan Scharf scored 10.

Ma’ayanot 22 Kushner 19

Baila Gopin’s basket with :24 left broke a 19-19 tie as the host Rapids rallied from a 7-point halftime deficit to beat the Cobras (0-2) in their season opener. Tali Zelkowitz led Ma’ayanot with 8 points and Gopin added 6. Sophie Baum scored 7 points for Kushner.

Flatbush 85 Magen Abraham 21

Joey Esses’ 12 points led four players in double figures as the Falcons (1-2) rolled in their league opener. Claude Pardo added 11 points and Ricky Haddad and Aaron Romano scored 10 each. The Kings dropped to 0-3.

MTA 56 Kushner 48

The Cobras (0-2) rallied from a 16-point halftime deficit to get within one midway through the 4th but the Lions pulled away late in their season opener. Jake Abenayem led MTA with 17 points and Josh Treuhaft added 11. Noah Sinnreich scored 17 points for Kushner.

SOUTHEAST

Cooper Memphis 38 Collegiate School 29

Benny Freiden scored 15 points as the Macs won their season opener.

WEST

Beren Houston 66 HCYA 45

Rafi Miller scored 28 points and grabbed 13 rebounds and Jonathan Kluger and Leeroy Tubol added 10 points each as the Stars won their opening game.

Glouberman Tournament 2024

The 10th annual Steve Glouberman z’l Basketball Tournament tips off Nov 6 at Shalhevet.

The host Shalhevet Firehawks are the defending champs in both the boys and girls tourneys and will be joined by 9 boys teams and 10 girls teams. Berman H.A., Flatbush, Frisch, H.A. Miami, Ramaz, SAR, Yavneh Dallas and YULA are sending both varsity teams. The Jewish Culture boys team and the Katz YHS and North Shore H.A. girls teams round out the participants.

The seeding for play-in games and quarterfinals will be based on preliminary matchups Wednesday and Thursday, with each team playing two games:
