MYHSAL Playoff Picture - Girls

January 28, 2024

VARSITY A

There’s no mystery who has qualified for the playoffs and most of the seeds are set, with SKA, Flatbush, North Shore H.A. and HAFTR in in the East and Frisch, SAR, Ma’ayanot and Ramaz making it in the West.

EAST

Flatbush (8-3) can tie SKA at 9-3 if they win their final game but the Sonics have clinched the #1 seed based on head-to-head point differential in the games they split against the Falcons.

North Shore H.A. (7-4) could tie Flatbush at 8-4 if they beat HANC and the Falcons lose to HAFTR. But Flatbush hold the tiebreaker for #2 based on sweeping the season series against the Lions.

HAFTR (.4-7) is locked in at #4.

WEST

Frisch (11-0) has clinched the #1 seed and home court through the semis.

SAR (8-2) clinches #2 if they win one of their last two games (vs Frisch and Ramaz) or Ma’yanot (7-4) loses to Kushner. But the Rapids would leapfrog the Sting into #2 if they beat Kushner and SAR loses out. That’s because of the point differential tiebreaker - with Ma’ayanot winning by 12 and SAR only by 8 in the games they split.

If Ramaz (6-5) beats SAR and Ma’ayanot loses to Kushner, the Rapids would still hold the #3 seed because they swept the Rams this season.

So, the quarterfinals look like this:

Frisch vs HAFTR
SKA vs Ramaz
SAR or Ma’ayanot vs North Shore H.A
Flatbush vs Ma’ayanot or SAR

VARSITY B

Ilan and SKA have clinched two of the four playoff spots, with undefeated Ilan the top seed. Bruriah and YDE have been eliminated.

SKA (7-4) clinches the #2 seed with a win in its final game against YDE.

If SKA loses and Na’aleh (6-5) beats Shulamith (5-5), Na’aleh would finish #2, SKA would finish #3 and Magen David (6-6) would be #4, with Shulamith eliminated because they lost twice to Magen David.

If SKA wins and Shulamith wins its final two games (vs Na’aleh and YDE), Shulamith would finish 3rd and Na’aleh 4th, with Magen David eliminated because of point differential in their season split with Na’aleh.

If SKA loses and Shulamith wins out, Shulamith would finish #2, SKA #3 and Na’aleh #4.

If Na’aleh, Shulamith and Magen David all finish 6-6, Magen David would finish #3, Shulamith would be #4 and Na’aleh eliminated.
