The #17 Tigers (11-2) took control early and held on to extend their win streak to four games. Zack Rosen led them with 19 points and Nathan Kushnir added 15. The loss was the first in six games for the #19 Aces (9-4).

Ephraim Blau scored 20 points and the Mayhem (9-3) used a 22-0 2nd half run to put the game away and win their fourth straight.

Morris Chaaya scored 24 points, including a bank shot with :01.5 left in overtime to give the #11 Falcons (8-3; 10-7) their third straight win. The #12 Warriors (5-5; 7-5), who had not played in a month, were led by Allie Dweck with 23 points and 12 rebounds and Asher Melamed with 16 points and 10 rebounds,.

The Hawks (7-0; 8-2) won at the Barclays Center in a game that double as league contest and tournament opener.

Tali Cohen and Jenny Kagan each scored 14 points and Ma’ayan Zakheim had 11 as the Cougars (10-3) won their fifth straight game.

Friday

Berman HA 51 Ramaz 34

Cougars (11-3) won their sixth straight game. The Rams (11-5) had their 11-game win streak snapped.

The #2 Wildcats (10-2) won their seventh straight game behind 19 points from Ezra Dubin and 11 from Isaac Solomon.

At Barclays Center, the #11 Falcons (7-3; 9-7) held on after leading by 16 at halftime. The #13 Hawks are now 6-5 in the league and 8-9 overall.

HAFTR Girls Tournament

February 3, 2022

Six teams are playing in the HAFTR Invitational varsity girls basketball tournament this weekend.

In addition to the host Hawks, the participating teams are Flatbush, Ramaz, HANC, North Shore and Berman Hebrew Academy from Maryland.

HAFTR and Ramaz are each in first place in their respective divisions of the Yeshiva League. In November, Berman reached the finals of the Glouberman Tournament. They beat HAFTR in one of the preliminary games there.

The HAFTR tournament tips off Thursday night, with two games in Cedarhurst and HAFTR playing Flatbush at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Each team will play three preliminary games to determine seeding, with the top two seeds getting .byes into the semifinals.

The quarterfinals will be Saturday night, with the semis, consolation games and championship on Sunday.
