Omer Atishkin, a senior at American Hebrew Academy in Greensboro, NC, has signed to play college ball at nearby Guilford College, a Division III school that was ranked #1 for much of this year and last week reached the NCAA semifinals.
.Atishkin, half of the Eagles' dynamic duo from Israel, led the team to its most successful season, including a first-ever post season win in the Triad Athletic Conference tournament. In that game, a triple overtime win over Elon, Atishkin had a season-high 35 points. He averaged 20.9 points per game.
"We are all extremely excited for Omer and are even more happy that he will continue his basketball career in Greensboro so we can all watch him play over the next 4 years," Coach Mike Johnston said in an email to the school community announcing Atishkin's choice on Tuesday.
Atishkin was named to the All Conference team and local coaches selected him an All-Area Honorable Mention for the Greensboro News and Record.
He was named to the All Tournament Team at the Cooper Invitational in Memphis, where the Eagles finished in 5th Place.
