cooper- While i agree with you the Kahane is probably one of the best coaches out there, I think you are so wrong about your team! While Krupp is a veteran Mendal Lazerous Will NOT be taking anyone to the basket! You guys probably wont even win a game even with the refs on your side!

I've got a confession to make. I missed the boat on this Cooper tournament. I just had the opportunity to look through the participants this year and dare I say this tournament more than rivals the Saracheck? Dare I say it? Once again, I dare.
First we need to look back at last year's tournament. Now I don't have a clue who won, but if I remember correctly there were only a few YL teams in that tournament and they were, shall we say, not the cream of the crop. Didn't TABC win/lose in the Finals of that tourny? TABC didn't make the YL playoffs last year. That's pathetic, but more on topic, that's why I looked past this tournament. Look again Robert, look again. OK, here we go.
It appears that the Cooper school evaluated the tournament, and someone somewhere deep within the halls of the tournament board meeting said: "Let's get the best to come to Memphis." Now while that statement doesn't apply/work in any other case for Memphis, and in terms of Tennessee as a whole the best thing they had going for them got tangled up in some love triangle and ended up permanently out of service (See S. McNair), it did somehow muster up some success in this case.
Somehow the Cooper school was able to attract the elite of the national schools across the country to come to Memphis, TN for a weekend that will potentially provide some matchups that will go the distance to help determine the national rankings, in my humble opinion.
To name a few: This year's #1 thus far Ramaz, last year's #1 and YL championship winner HANC, last year's weekly top 3 nationally Tarbut V'Torah. A few more: Shalhevet, Heschel, Stern from PA, YDH, NSHA. All teams that can compete and will compete. (One disclaimer is that usually the Stern from PA team has more bark than bite. Unlike the soda.)
Most tournaments we see these days usually and unfortunately include a few teams that are auto-wins for the rest of the pack. But with 16 teams and 2 Tiers you are looking at potentially the years best and most competetive tournament. In fact it may be the millenium's best tournament thus far.
As far as predictions go, wake me up in 2 weeks and we can discuss. But make sure you're paying attention to this tournament.

Should be a great tournament, although the fact that there is a jv team diminishes it somewhat. There were complaints last year about the refs, helping Memphis to the 'ship, but that always happens when the host wins. Cooper will be hard pressed to repeat though - what am I talking about, there's no way they repeat, with that lineup of teams. Will be interesting - big discrepancy between tiers but each tier should be exciting once you get past opening day.

Good day to you all...

I have a business trip to attend in nashville at the beginning of next week, so I decided that I'd drive over and extend my stay through the weekend in Memphis! hope the wife and kids will be alright cause all i'll be doing is watching ritholz hit 3s from 35 feet out, feldstein dishing out a$sists to his boys rubin and berg, and finally kasman and jack firing from the perimeter all day.

I just hope I don't have to be living out of my car for 4 days. Then again, I wouldn't trust most of the motels in memphis.

i will be posting throughout those 4 days with tons of updates, and the latest on this 6'7 guy from greensboro, how the boys from Hot-lanta do it down south, and the west coast styles of tarbut vtorah and shalhevet. With the west, east, and south all coliding this should be a treat for me to watch. a once in a lifetime opportunity. hope my newfound brother, oldtimer/3rings, can book a flight out there.

i heard about that, apparently the kids really wanted to go, but big daddy (a.k.a. gelber) wouldn't let them go.
imagine this tourney with the 'bush too! o baby that would be an even bigger treat.
"mediocre" haha. I love it. might as well label them "overrated" or "pretender".
go central indeed.
